Women Photographers: 3rd Julia Margaret Cameron Award

The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards (WPGA) is currently accepting entries for the 3rd edition of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award, a juried exhibition for professional and non-professional women photographers worldwide.

As in the two previous editions, WPGA invites women photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements are welcome.

The Julia Margaret Cameron Award 2012 will be given to 12 women photographers which will be invited to exhibit (and sell) their work in a very selective collective exhibition in Paris, during 2013.

WPGA is Calling for Entries from All Women Photographers Working in All mediums and Styles

The 3rd Julia Margaret Cameron Award accepts traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements in the following categories:

  • Portraits
  • Landscapes and Seascapes
  • Street Photography and Cityscapes
  • Fine Art
  • Nude and Figure
  • Documentary and Editorial

12 Women Photographers Get Invited to Exhibit + Sell Their Work in Paris!

The Julia Margaret Cameron Award will be given to 12 women photographers which will be invited to exhibit (and sell) their work in a very selective collective exhibition in Paris during 2013, honoring one hundredth year of the birth of Robert Capa, co-founder of Magnum Photos and famous war photojournalist.

WPGA will take care of the framing and matting, as well as all gallery expenses. Exhibitors will receive 40% of the sales, 20% will be reserved for the gallery/organizers, and 40% will be donated to a charitable organization selected by the awardees.

A catalog will be printed, and all 12 awardees will receive one free copy.

This is An International Call for Entry

  • Professional and non-professional women photographers from all countries may participate.
  • Only single images will be accepted; no portfolios in this edition.
  • Digital image files must meet the following specifications:
    • 8 bit JPEG files (CMYK and 16 bits files will not be uploaded)
    • The largest dimension should be 1280 pixels (width or height) and no less than 800 pixels
    • Resolution of 72 dpi
    • JPG compression quality of 7 or 8
    • Layers must be flattened
    • Images will be viewed by the jurors as RGB images; therefore Adobe RGB or sRGB profiles should be used
  • Submissions as email attachments, on CD, or prints are not allowed in this competition and will not be returned.
