The Focus Project seeks to launch the careers of the best emerging photographers while looking for the most compelling and dynamic photographs out there. You take amazing photos: we invite you to share your work and show the world through your unique lens.
Throughout the course of the Focus Project, selected photographers will be prominently featured on the official website and will have a chance at life-changing awards, world-wide acclaim, a red-carpet New York City reception and more than $75,000 in awards to fund your passion: taking incredible photos.
Everyone who participates in the Focus Project will be given the tools to gain international exposure for their work.
Objective
The Focus Project engages the international photographic community by drawing attention to images of the people, places, things and ideas that matter most in our lives. Throughout the year, the Focus Project asks photographers to contribute their best images, in an effort to identify emerging talent and to create a collective narrative reflecting all our voices and visions.
The Focus Project is currently accepting submissions of all photography genres and themes.
Besides the annual competition, the Focus Project 2011 also features weekly and monthly competitions, so there are plenty of chances to win great prizes.
Prizes
Every week, the public will cast their vote and the photographer with the highest rated portfolio will receive the People’s Choice Prize of $500 cash and feature placement on The Focus Project homepage, seen by editors, agents, collectors and photography enthusiasts all over the world!
Every month, our jury panel will select one photographer for a $2,500 Cash Award and A Career-Launching Publicity Campaign. We will feature your images and a link to your portfolio in a campaign seen by 1.2 million viewers from publications including: JPG Magazine, Popular Photography, American Photo, PDN Magazine, Artists Wanted, amongst many others.
One selected photographer will be chosen annually and awarded the Grand Prize of A Gala Reception in New York City, a $10,000 cash grant, a video documentary and an online feature published by Artists Wanted promoting you and your photography to the world.
Rules
- Anyone can participate in the Focus Project.
- Submissions are limited to 20 images per portfolio. You can submit as many portfolios as you like.
- Images cannot exceed 2 MB in size. The Focus Project suggests submitting images that are between 1 and 2 megapixels (between 1,000 and 2,000 pixels wide).
- All images must be in .jpg format.

To enter, submit your entries on the official website through a very friendly 3 step registration process.
Entry fee
With your first image free, price for entry is $10 per image. You can submit 8 or more images for a discounted flat rate of $79 (maximum of 20 images).
