The 2011 Feast Festival Poster Competition

Want to add to your design portfolio? Want to see your graphic designs on thousands of guides, posters and postcards during September to December 2011? If so, Feast invites you to get your creative juices flowing and enter their poster design competition.

The winning image will become the official poster of the 2011 Feast Festival and will be awarded with a cash prize.

In 2011 Feast will be 15 years old and is widely known as the leading gay and lesbian festival in Australia. Feast is a multi cultural and arts festival that showcases some of the best queer talent in Australia and internationally.

Objective

The theme of the 2011 Feast Festival is “Coming Together”, and your job is to create the official festival poster. Include the text “FEAST FESTIVAL 2011” and the corporate Feast Logo downloadable from the official website.

When you think of this year’s theme, think of our community all congregating at a central meeting place, all gathering around the spokes on a wheel, called the hub. Think of the hub as the central point where the queer community can feel safe, belong and take ownership over for 16 days. Think of the festival growing and emerging as a major festival in South Australia. Think of artists mixing together in one place, to share stories, songs and experiences. Think of audiences from all walks of life uniting to enjoy great art and artists. Think of all of us merging together in one place, our place! When you think of this year’s theme, think of “Coming Together”

Feast is an iconic gay and lesbian event and it’s up to you to reflect this however you please. But Feast wants to be seen as funky, spunky, sexy and progressive. The winning design must reflect the theme, be sharp, memorable and convey a positive image of the festival. The image must stand out and become an icon for the festival throughout the year and appeal to our audience base.

Prizes

The winning image will become the official poster of the 2011 Feast Festival. The main image will be used as the generic festival poster, be on the cover of the 56 page guide, advertising and outdoor media. The secondary use for the image will be for letterhead, website, media releases, venue signage, directional signage and sponsor banners.

The winner will receive a cash prize of $500 + a 2011 Feast Festival Season Pass which entitles the winner to a double pass to all Feast produced shows.

Rules

  • All individuals and design schools/firms are invited to submit entries.
  • Only one entry per person will be accepted.
  • There is no entry fee for the competition, but all poster entries become property of the Feast festival and will not be returned.

How to enter?

Entries must be submitted in hard copy (not electronically) at A2 size (approx. 42cm wide x 60cm high).
