Swatch Young Illustrators Award 2010

Undiscovered illustration and graphic artists worldwide now have the chance to reveal themselves internationally. Illustrative´s arms are open to receive works from new artists from all over the world for the Swatch Young Illustrators Award.

The award offers the winners not only the opportunity to be part of Illustrative in May 2011 in Berlin, but also prizes worth 6.000 Euros, the opportunity to design a Swatch watch, publications and illustration agency contracts and the possibility of exhibiting in future Illustrative festivals in some of the most creative cities of the world.

Objective

Eligible for submission are:

  • Images (single images or series of up to 20 works), installation projects
  • Animation films
  • Book Art objects

The work is to be submitted digitally. Pictures or documentation of films, books or installations are to be integrated into a PDF. The individual work is to be marked with a subtitle or with a separate list of titles (size, year, if applicable edition, technique). The PDF may contain additional information about the project and a CV.

Only personal work will be accepted, not commercial work.

Prizes

The nominees of the Swatch Young Illustrators Award will get the opportunity to exhibit their work at Illustrative and for two weeks, the winners will join this celebration of the latest talents, trends and innovation in illustrative art.

To reward the best in graphic + illustration projects, animation and book art the Swatch Young Illustrators Award presents a prize of 6.000 Euros to the winner as well as publications and illustration agency contracts and the opportunity to be featured in future international shows.

One winner will also be invited to design a Swatch Watch – a great opportunity to join the ranks of artists such as Kiki Picasso, Pedro Almodóvar, Robert Altman and Keith Haring.

Rules

  • Eligible applicants are illustrators, visual artists, graphic designers, animators, book artists, as well as students and apprentices. The minimum age is 21 years. A maximum age doesn’t exist, despite the name of the competition.
  • Works submitted must be in German or English, or have subtitles in either of these languages. Works in other languages must be accompanied by a text list in German or English.
  • More than one project may be submitted by the same artist, using a separate application for each work. This means that you have to register again to generate another personal ID and you will have to pay a submission fee for each project that you’d like to submit.

Entry fee

A submission fee of 30 EUR or $48 US for administrative purposes must be transferred or paid online via Paypal.
