Project FENCES: Costume Design Competition

In preparation for the upcoming production of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Fences, McCarter Theatre is sponsoring the Project FENCES: Costume Design Competition.

The competition is intended to engage students in an exploration of playwright August Wilson’s masterwork Fences, celebrate the theatrical art of costume design and identify and recognize the American Theater’s next generation of talented costume designers.

McCarter Theatre’s Project FENCES: Costume Design Competition is open to any currently enrolled high school or undergraduate student.

Any student may submit as many as three costume renderings.

The two winning costume designs will be recognized and displayed in the lobby of McCarter’s Berlind Theatre for the run of Fences.

The two winning costume designers will each receive two complimentary tickets to Opening Night of Fences (Friday, 17 January 2014 at 8:00pm) and two invitations to the post-show reception, which will be attended by the Fences cast, director, and creative team. Each winning designer will also receive a full-sized Fences poster autographed by costume designer ESOSA.

The four costume designers whose designs are selected for honorable mention will each receive a Fences poster signed by ESOSA.
