International Piano Competition “J. S. Bach” 2013

Young pianists from around the world are invited to register for the 8th International Piano Competition “J. S. Bach” 2013. The competition is an opportunity to compete in playing selected works from Johann Sebastian Bach.

The Competition will conclude with the prize winner concert in March 2013. Four main cash prizes and two special prizes are available for the best young pianists.

This is a competition open to candidates born after 1st April 1976, i.e. who are no older than 36 at the time of the contest.

Promoting and Underlining the Importance of the «Bach-Image»

This contest offers young pianists of all nationalities the opportunity to compete together with a view to promoting and underlining the importance of the «Bach-Image» both in public concerts and in the field of teaching.

In the contest, candidates should not only demonstrate pianistic and artistic skills, but also a strongly developed awareness of style in their Bach interpretation. Scope is nevertheless given for individual interpretation within the framework of original texts.

This is a three stage competition which concludes with a concert. The prize winner concert will take place on 21st March 2013, 7.00 pm. in the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg — Gebäude „Am Residenzplatz“, Hofstraße 13.

The following prizes will be awarded to the best pianists:

  • 1st Prize: €4000
  • 2nd Prize: €3000
  • 3rd Prize: €2000
  • 4th Prize: €1000
  • Special Prize “Walter Blankenheim”: €500
  • Special Prize of the Jury: €500

Entry Fee

The entry fee is 80 Euro.
