The first prize of the competition is a Olympus E-PL8 14-42 EZ. Three other prizes are available as well. One of the three winners has the opportunity to participate in the next year’s festival with a solo exhibition.

The competition theme is described in more details on the official website.

Fifty-six years have passed from the Martin Luther King speech and the phrase “I have a dream…” remains timeless. The reverend and fighter gave a speech to Washington, who played a key role in the human and civil rights movement. Martin Luther King uses the word “dream” to make an indirect reference to the American Dream and what it should mean to every American citizen. However, the phrase is a reference point for claiming equality, justice and altruism, and has acquired a variety of interpretations. “I have a dream,” a hope, a desire that comes into conversation with social structures and political aspirations. The word dream refers to the fantastic or superhuman element. Dream as the basic tool of surrealism encourages states of liberation of human imagination. The power that the image holds through photography can illustrate this polarity.

On 29th May 2019 the results of the best 25 photos will be announced.

The exhibition of the winning photos will take place in the cultural multiplex of Ioannina in Palea Sfagia, Greece, 29 May — 9 June 2019. the same exhibition will travel to other Greek cities after the end of the festival. The awards will be announced on 9th June 2019 at the closing ceremony of Photometria International Photography Festival and on the official website.
