European Architectural Photography Prize 2011

architekturbild, the European Architectural Photography Prize, has been awarded on a two-yearly basis since 1995. Call for entries for the 2011 European Architectural Photography Prize is open.

Since 2003, the prize has been awarded by architekturbild e.v., a non-profit organization, and since 2008 in cooperation with the German Architecture Museum, Frankfurt.

In 2011, first prize of 4000 Euro and two commendations (1000 Euro each) will be awarded on a special ceremony held at the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt.

Objective

The title “in between” refers back to the theme of »Architecture in Context « (1999) – but as a reversal, not a repetition. This time, the emphasis is on what lies between, be it disturbing and divisive or connecting and communicative. It is less about things themselves than the cement that holds them together and – ideally – creates a surprising new whole. The possibilities range from the tiniest detail to town planning.

Submissions should consist of a series of four photographs on this theme (as prints, maximum format: 40 x 40 cm; the longest picture edge must be at least 30 cm long, and no longer than 50 cm for panorama pictures).

Prizes

Besides the first prize (4000 Euro), two commendations (1000 Euro each) will also be awarded.

The photographs submitted by the prize-winners and the 25 runners-up will be presented in an exhibition and documented both online and in a catalogue. The awards ceremony will be held on 6 May 2011 at the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt.
