The call for entries of the Curtas Vila do Conde 2016 International Film Festival has just been announced and the festival is now open for new short films.
Eligible for entry are films produced in 2015 or 2016, within the duration limit of 60 minutes, in film (35mm or 16 mm) or digital (DCP or vídeo files), including: animations, documentaries, fiction films, experimental films and music videos.
The Festival is very competitive and each year awards are announced in thirteen (13) categories, five (5) of which are international.
Competition categories include:
- International (fiction, documentary and animation);
- Portuguese (Portuguese films of fiction, documentary and animation);
- Experimental (films that defy narrative and technical conventions);
- Music Videos (usic videos for Portuguese bands or artists, or directed by Portuguese authors);
- Curtinhas (films for kids until 30 minutes);
- Take One (school films, until 30 minutes, by Portuguese film students, national or in film schools abroad).
The 24th Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival, organized by Curtas Metragens CRL – Cooperativa de Produção Cultural CRL, based in Vila do Conde, Portugal, will be held from 9th to 17th of July 2016.
Assuming as main objective the promotion and diffusion of cinematographic and audio-visual works, selected according to a quality criteria, the event will put on focus not only on the discovery of new films and filmmakers but also on the recognized legacy of Cinema.

Submission fees start at 7 Euro for entries until 15th January 2016.
