The Budapest Film Academy (BFA) Invites Submissions for its 2013 Spring Semester Scholarship Competition

Budapest Film Academy (BFA) and Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) have joined forces and launched an English and Hungarian language film academy in Budapest offering practical film studies to students who would like to become industry professionals.

The courses are also available to young filmmakers who are not currently attending an institution of higher education.

As part of the competition you’ll have to submit one of your previous works that showcases your talent. The submitted material will depend on the course you are applying for:

  • Screenwriting – a pitch of a feature length film in maximum one page, or a character oriented scene which can’t be longer than six minutes. It has to describe your character well.
  • Directing – a film directed by the applicant. It can’t be longer than 15 minutes and it has to be uploaded on YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Editing and Sound recording – a film edited or sound engineered by the applicant. It can’t be longer than 15 minutes and it has to be uploaded on YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Cinematography – a film in which the applicant was the cinematographer. It can’t be longer than 15 minutes and it has to be uploaded on YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Producing – Line-producing – a film produced or line produced by the applicant. It can’t be longer than 15 minutes and it has to be uploaded on YouTube or Vimeo. Another way of applying is a description of a project that the applicant wants to accomplish in the future. For this, we also need a financial and a producing plan.

The Budapest Film Academy (BFA) offers three kinds of scholarships:

  • 100% tuition free scholarship
  • 75% discount from the tuition fee
  • 50% discount from the tuition fee
