BECA: Article 19: Call to Artists, Architects, Designers

BECA: Bridge for Emerging Contemporary Art, the global artist and designer run non-profit project founded in January 2008, presents ‘ARTICLE 19’. Drawing inspiration from both the preamble and Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, artists, architects + designers from around the world are challenged to Explore, Discover and Act through Art + Design.

The result will be an international group exhibition which embodies not only the spirit of Article 19 of the UDHR but also explores today’s ever-growing challenges faced by contemporary society from all corners of the globe when attempts are made to realize our human right to freedom of expression.

Objective

This is a multimedia and multidisciplinary exhibition without limitation therefore all works will be considered, including but not limited to: site-specific installations, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, drawing, printmaking, fiber, textiles, illustration, digital art, interactive design, photography, video/new media, film, performance art, music and sound focused works, 3D animation, graphic design, product design, furniture design, haute couture fashion + accessories, architectural interventions/designs and functional art, etc.

In other words, all creative culminations which address the specifics of this call are welcome.

Prizes

The result will be an international group exhibition which embodies not only the spirit of Article 19 of the UDHR but also explores today’s ever-growing challenges faced by contemporary society from all corners of the globe when attempts are made to realize our human right to freedom of expression.

All selected works, unless indicated otherwise as NFS (Not For Sale), will be made available for purchase throughout the duration of the exhibition. If a sale occurs, The BECA Foundation will receive 40% of the sale price and the artist, architect or designer will receive 60% of the sale price.

Rules

  • Those at least 18 years of age from any country are eligible to submit their works for ARTICLE 19 exhibition consideration according to the guidelines below.
  • Artists, architects and designers are required to submit at least one work and are allowed a maximum submission of 4 works for review along with an artist/architect/designer statement as it pertains to the work you are submitting.
  • All works submitted must have been created within the last 2 years.
  • All exhibited works must be made available for the duration of the exhibition.
  • The submission must be of the actual works you are proposing to exhibit.
  • Concept drawings or proposals for future works not yet created cannot be accepted.

How to enter?

Visit the official website and click on the “Submission Fee” button, so that you can initiate the payment of the entry fee.

Once you receive verification of your payment from PayPal, you may then proceed with the completion of your submission by emailing your materials and your printed out, completed and scanned submission form to becafoundation [at] gmail.com (please replace [at] with @).

Entry fee

The total submission fee for a maximum of 4 works plus statement is $25.
